ONE
STEP AT A TIME towards a Community Safe Plan.
This
plan is an innovative integrated multi-sector development
tool.
It
is part of a solution that is well supported by inter-regional
Residents, Council, School and local Business. During the
coming year this Submission will be revised and revisited
as a Community Safe Plan under Crime Prevention to the new
Australian Federal and State Queensland governments.
We
are confident with the political change in the new Federal
government, and the nations new mandate about taking "responsibility"
in the area of Crime Prevention, that this strategy will
be snaffled by other regions as an example for community
safe enterprise.
The
plan is unique because it engages all the essential services,
including Job contractors, Education and Health within the
regional Shire. It works with Business and Government sectors
giving the community access to new opportunities not presently
available.
I believe having a Community Safe Strategy that deals with
the casual elements of crime through a Crime Prevention
approach is a base planning strategy for any Council serious
about it's own communities future in development. How the
Cook Shire Crime Prevention Strategy fits in with the ID
Boom Approach. "Let's Identify Ourselves" is a Knowledge
Share and Exchange working community business framework
for project funds and further development within Cook Shire.
The
model speaks for itself really and has components that slip
in and out of the dimensional sections (sector components)
as they are integrated and displayed.
For
example, in the Crime Prevention strategy (mentioned above)
there is a multi-sector cultural model that works in skills
creation and targets
civic wellness, the social environment, disadvantage
and recovery.
As
you look at the ID Boom model you can see how this would
fit above the 'crisis' bottom line region and below the
boat representing the two booms. (See the ID model) and
Cultural Integration Map). It is the solutions area and
works on building economic and social capacity.
Should
I be elected to Council, I will hold a full circle through
the open media and create discussion forums to discuss extensively
the merits of these integrated policy initiatives.
These
policies are further explained in my Election Policy pledge
pages along side the need to address a "No Wrong Door Policy",
which I
also explain.
